Disease outbreaks that affect local economies or the global economy may materially and adversely impact our investment fund and portfolio and/or our business. For example, uncertainties regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak have resulted in serious economic disruptions internationally and especially in Asia. These types of outbreaks can be expected to cause severe decreases in core business activities such as manufacturing, purchasing, tourism, business conferences and workplace participation, among others. These disruptions lead to instability in the market place, including stock market losses and overall volatility, as has occurred in connection with COVID-19. The full impacts of a pandemic or disease outbreaks are unknown, resulting in a high degree of uncertainty for potentially extended periods of time.

Mutual fund investing involves risk. Principal loss is possible. The Funds invest in foreign securities which involve greater volatility and political, economic and currency risks and differences in accounting methods. This risk is greater for investments in emerging markets. Investing in smaller companies involves additional risks such as limited liquidity and greater volatility. The Funds may make short sales of securities, which involves the risk that losses may exceed the original amount invested. Investments in debt securities typically decrease in value when interest rates rise. This risk is usually greater for longer-term debt securities. Investment in lower-rated, non-rated and distressed securities presents a greater risk of loss to principal and interest than higher-rated securities.
